The director of the archives, Ardit Bido, has commented on the visit of Archbishop Anastas Janullatos to Fredi Beleri, who has been in detention in Tirana since May 12.
Bido said that this is an absurd situation and of course Greece reacts whenever its interests are affected, as we as a country have created this opportunity for it. He said that due to the policies made in 32 years, Albania has not been able to stop such a situation, where another country, such as Greece, is already demanding the release of the elected mayor of Himara.
He said that Janullato's visit also shows that Beleri is an issue that is of great interest to the Greek state, according to him the archbishop did not visit him only because he is Orthodox, since if he were, he would also visit Vangjush Dako.
" Here you see the absurd situation, the head of a public institution, despite the fact that it is not a state one, such as Anastas Janullatus, holder of a Greek diplomatic passport, goes to prison for Fredi Beleri. What is it for? Since it is orthodox? Why didn't Vangjush go to Dako, he is also orthodox. What are these absurd situations that happen in our country?
These come from two factors, the first is the fact that Greece is a stronger country and we cannot have the same reaction as with other countries in the region since it "has the whip". The second is that the Albanian state in 32 years, due to ignorance, selling sometimes, impossibility other times, has produced situations that have not created genuine policies to stop such a situation on the ground", said Ardit Bido in an interview for Euronews Albania.
