Ardian Visha, the legal representative of lawyer Ulian Barjami, spoke about the arrest and release of his client.
While describing Barjam's arrest as illegal, the lawyer stated that the judicial police officer should only accompany the lawyer.
"I support all the positions of the lawyers, whether in their capacity as lawyers or legal professionals, who have expressed themselves on the case, and it was a logical, fair and, of course, beneficial solidarity in terms of the prosecution's reaction to at least the immediate release of lawyer Bajramaj."
I say at least that for me it should have been accompanied by consideration, as a superior authority, of the absolute illegality of the judicial police officer who ordered the detention of this citizen on his own initiative. He did not do this, at least with the communication with which the media made with the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office. I did not find this position, for me, in the total illegality of the OPGJ's act. An act that for me belongs to a disciplinary and criminal character", he told "Report TV".
Further, Visha stated that they will follow the case and stated that if there is no initiative from the prosecution, there will be a criminal report on their part.
"In the most serious aspect, of the deprivation of the lawyer's freedom, this absurdity has been regulated. In terms of assessing the illegal criminal action, if there is room for this, other steps will undoubtedly be followed, either on the initiative of the prosecution and a report from our side," he said.
As for lawyer Barjami, Visha stated that he is aware that he had done nothing.
"No one wants to be behind bars, much less a lawyer. 48 hours spent unjustly have psychological consequences, on the character or behavior of the individual, at least from a moral point of view he was above board, because he was aware that he had done nothing ," he said.
Lawyer Visha also called for the punishment of this case and the prevention of a recurrence of the situation.
"Recidivism is always punishable. To punish it, it is the action of the Chamber of Advocates, whom I must thank for the reaction and all the lawyers in their public appearances have made about this absurd behavior of the judicial authorities. The precedent created must be punished, so that it is not repeated ," he concluded.
