The Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime assigned the security measure "Compulsion to Appear", under the accusation of "Abuse of duty" for the sterilization concession for the former Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj.
He is not allowed to leave the territory of Albania and must appear every Friday at the judicial police.
Former prosecutor Elisabeta Imeraj said in the "Review" show on Euronews Albania that the investigation process for the former minister has not been completed, so the possibility of tightening the security measure is not excluded.
" We are faced with the fact that Beqaj is still a suspect, we are not dealing with a concluded accusation and the end of investigations. As long as the investigation is not closed, there may be other charges and other security measures. The investigation is ongoing and we do not know the final charge. I don't think there will be relief for Beqaj. The prosecution must have had a reason for the security measure, such as the health claim, if we refer to the fact that we have other former officials like Dako in prison for abuse of office ", said Imeraj.
