" Albania is characterized by an informal economy based on cash and is of interest to organized criminal groups linked to other criminal assets that operate throughout Europe and South America. Most gambling activities have been closed and declared illegal since 2019, with the exception of those in luxury resorts and those under the supervision of the National Gambling Agency," the Italian Antimafia report said .

In this direction, various anti-drug activities, developed in different Italian regions, as will be seen later in detail, have highlighted the operational synergies of Albanian organized crime with indigenous crime. Albanian criminal groups are traditionally dedicated to marijuana trafficking. But they are now permanently reinvesting the income in cocaine traffic, which they import into the national territory by land.", it is emphasized in the report.
For the second time, the Italian Antimafia emphasizes in this next document how in the Tuscany region, especially in its capital Florence, Albanian elements are asserting themselves in the territory as entrepreneurs, mainly in the construction and tourism sectors.
According to the report, many suspected Albanian criminal elements have bought business activities and opened bars and restaurants.
