The Tirana Prosecution Office has completed the investigations and has sent Dritan Hoxha to trial for premeditated murder.
He is accused, together with Besim Besimaj, arrested in Greece, of having caused the murder of Andon Veshaj.
The incident took place on May 17, 2010, in the Larissa region of Greece, where Andon Veshaj was found dead, raped inside his vehicle. The investigation began in 2017, following a complaint filed by the victim's uncle, who sought to clarify the incident.
Hoxha knew the victim, and on the night of the crime they were at the same bar.
The prosecution proved that they left at the same time and the phone records showed that the perpetrator communicated with another accomplice, Besimaj. They raped her and as a result of severe blows to the head, Veshaj lost her life.
"Both of these citizens exercised physical violence by hitting him on the legs, hands and various parts of the body. As a result of the violence, the victim died. After these acts, they put the victim in their vehicle and drove him away from the scene," the prosecution announced.
The prosecution says that it is suspected that the cause of the incident was the fact that the victim had three checks worth 150 thousand Euros with him that night.
Dritan Hoxha was arrested after 14 years on the run, on July 11, 2024.

Citizen AV beaten to death in Greece, Tirana Prosecution completes investigations and sends citizen DH to trial for the criminal offense of 'Premeditated Murder'
The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Tirana, completed the investigations and sent citizen DH to trial for the criminal offense of 'Premeditated Murder' committed in collaboration as provided for in Articles 78 and 25 of the Criminal Code.
At the conclusion of the investigation into criminal proceedings no. 4139 dated 30.06.2023. it resulted that this citizen in collaboration with citizen BB caused the murder of citizen AV in the Larissa region in Greece on 17.05.2010.
The investigation began in 2017 after a report was made by the victim's uncle, who reported that his nephew was found beaten to death inside his car.
The investigations carried out showed that citizen DH knew the victim and on the night of the crime they were in the same bar run by the victim, drinking alcohol. The prosecution proved that they left at the same time and the telephone records showed that the perpetrator communicated with his other accomplice, citizen BB. Both of these citizens used physical violence by hitting him on the legs, hands and various parts of the body. As a result of the violence, the victim died. After these acts, they put the victim in his vehicle and drove him away from the scene.
On the night of the incident, the victim had three checks worth 150,000 euros with him. He died as a result of severe head injuries.
From the investigations of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Tirana, it was proven that citizen DH consumed in collaboration with citizen BB and committed the criminal offense of 'Premeditated Murder' to the detriment of victim AV.
