Genc Burazeri, one of the suspects and who is under the obligation to appear for the sterilization concession, turns out to be the first cousin of the former Minister of Health Ilir Beqja.
Journalist Klodiana Lala informs that Burazeri was a member of the concession granting commission. Burazeri is accused by SPAK of the criminal offenses of "Abuse of duty" and "Forgery of documents".
The former minister Beqaj himself is being investigated by SPAK under the suspicion that he predetermined the granting of the concession, while the fact that one of the suspects is his first cousin deepens the scandal even further.
It is not known whether this issue is being seen among others as a conflict of interest.
After former minister Beqaj and businessman Rrapaj signed the 10-year concession contract for nearly 100 million dollars in December 2015, they made a series of air flights to Italy, together with former deputy minister Klodian Rrjepaj.
While the concession is being implemented in its eighth year, and 8 people are under investigation, the GJKKO directed the SPAK to expand the investigations on the criminal responsibilities of the two former ministers Beqaj and Cani as well as 4 commissioners of procurements.
