Judge Gerd Hoxha has reacted to the murder of his colleague Astrit Kalaja.
Hoxha said that it is impossible for citizens to receive justice if judges are threatened.
"A man of many values, believe me, it is beyond any imagination that such things could happen, today is the time for Albanian society to reflect deeply on these macabre events, for state institutions to react urgently, to take measures that will have to prevent such events. A national forum should be established with representatives of all powers, to put an end to these painful events. It is impossible for citizens to receive justice if judges are threatened. Judges are very shocked, but they are not afraid to give justice", said judge Gerd Hoxha.
Judge Astrit Kalaja was shot dead in the courtroom by Elvis Shkambi. Two other people were injured and are out of danger. The perpetrator, who was on trial for a property issue, was arrested just moments after shooting the judge.
