Strange noises and holes up to 25 meters deep/ The phenomenon that is alarming

A dangerous natural phenomenon has put the residents of the village of Dëshiran, in the Municipality of Belsh, on alert. Karst sinkholes up to 25 meters deep have opened up near several homes, putting the lives of the local community at direct risk.

Residents, shocked and frightened, confess that every night they hear loud noises coming from underground. “The ground has reached its end,” says one resident, as he shows how the ground beneath their feet is disappearing day by day. Worried about the fate of their homes and children, they appeal to institutions to react before it is too late.

Geological experts have classified the Dumre area, where Dëshirani is located, as one of the most sensitive territories in Albania. With over 84 natural lakes, created by the melting of limestone and gypsum rocks, this region is exposed to karst phenomena. But despite this, the institutional response has been minimal.

At a time when rainfall and climate change are making this territory even more fragile, the negligence of the authorities raises serious questions about public safety and state responsibility. Will we wait for tragedy to act?
