The United States has launched an operation to repatriate American citizens from the Middle East, amid rising tensions in the region.
The US State Department announced that a charter flight carrying American citizens has departed from the Middle East to the United States, as part of efforts to help Americans return home.
According to the announcement, additional flights are expected to be organized throughout the region in the coming days.
US authorities have urged US citizens in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Israel who are interested in charter flights or ground transportation options to fill out a special emergency form or contact the State Department's Task Force, which is available 24 hours a day.
Today, a Department of State charter flight of American citizens departed the Middle East en route to the United States, as part of our ongoing efforts to assist Americans return home.
