The airspace near Lublin and Rzeszów, Poland, will remain closed until at least 04:00 (local time) due to "unplanned military activity related to state security," Flightradar24 reported.

Suspicions are that Polish airspace has been violated again by drones coming from Russia, immediately after the massive attacks reported in Kiev overnight.

Poland has scrambled its aircraft to ensure the security of its airspace after Russia launched attacks on Ukraine, the Polish Armed Forces announced. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, as of 03:00 (local time), the entire territory of Ukraine was on air security alert.

“In connection with the activity of the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation, which is carrying out attacks on Ukrainian territory, Polish and allied aircraft have begun operating in our airspace,” a post on X by the Polish military said. The operations were defined as preventive, aimed at securing airspace and protecting citizens.

Tensions have escalated after repeated Russian violations of NATO countries' airspace this month.

Meanwhile, Estonia has accused Russia of violating its airspace with fighter jets, while a NATO air defense mission was recently conducted over Poland as part of an allied response to Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace.

Polish and NATO fighter jets shot down three Russian drones in Polish airspace on September 10.

US President Donald Trump has said that NATO countries should shoot down Russian planes in their airspace, while NATO itself has warned that it will use "all necessary military and non-military means" to defend itself after recent military interventions.
