A series of text messages, which appear to have been exchanged between Jeffrey Epstein and an as-yet-unidentified person in September 2018, are revealing new details about the American financier's network of contacts, less than a year before he was arrested for sex trafficking.
The messages were sent via Apple's iMessage over two days and include discussions about a woman described as a 23-year-old former model from Russia. The identity of the person communicating with Epstein, as well as the phone number, have been redacted from the released documents.
In one of the messages, the unknown person writes to Epstein, addressing him by the name "Jeffrey", that he can introduce him to "a beautiful and smart girl". Epstein asks what the word "smart" means, and the answer comes that it is about "a very intelligent girl with a sweet personality". Then two photos of her are sent, where the face is blocked.
Epstein asks for her name and personal details, but this information turns out to be redacted in the published materials. According to the messages, the woman was in San Diego for about six months, as part of an exchange program from a Moscow university, and had expressed a desire to stay in the United States. The unknown person promises to provide “more details in person.”
In the continuation of the conversation, Epstein asks the interlocutor to send the bank details of a third person. About five hours later, he writes that he has "sent $5,000 today", and the next day he verifies whether the amount has been received.
