The indictment against Donald Trump for mishandling classified documents represents the most serious legal risk yet for the former president of the United States. The risk comes less than three months after charges in New York of falsifying business records.
Trump faces 37 counts related to the misuse of classified documents, according to the indictment unsealed Friday. The charges include suspicion of possessing classified information, obstruction of justice and making false statements.
Trump is accused of withholding documents related to "nuclear weapons in the United States" and "nuclear capability of a foreign country," along with documents from White House intelligence briefings, including some detailing U.S. military capabilities and other countries.
