A formal indictment is expected this week.
There is no doubt. Tyler Robinson is the murderer of activist Charlie Kirk.
"DNA on a towel wrapped around the gun used to kill Charlie Kirk has been matched to Robinson," said FBI Director Kash Patel.
Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested in the shooting death of the right-wing influencer at an event at Utah Valley University last week. A rifle was found near the scene of the shooting and a screwdriver was found on the roof from where Kirk was shot.
“I can report today that DNA traces from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm and DNA on the screwdriver have matched to the suspect in custody,” Kash Patel told Fox and Friends.
A formal indictment is expected this week. A motive has not yet been determined.
The FBI director, who has been reviewing the case, also referred to a note discovered in the suspects' home, which vowed to "kill" Kirk.
"It basically says, 'I have the opportunity to kill Charlie Kirk,' and I will admit that the note was written before the shooting," Patel said.
"Although it is destroyed, we have found forensic evidence of the marking," he added.
