The Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, has come out with a surprising attitude. He has stated that NATO countries supplying Ukraine with weapons should allow Kiev's armed forces to use them to strike military targets in Russia.
The statement was made in an interview for "Economist". According to the British weekly, the leader of the Alliance refers specifically to the United States. " It is time for the allies to consider lifting some of the restrictions on the use of weapons that they have given to Ukraine ," he said in the interview, mentioning in particular the ongoing battles in the Kharkiv area. " The ban on the ability to use these weapons against legitimate military targets on Russian territory makes it very difficult for them to defend themselves ," he explained.
But his attitude has provoked many reactions. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has stated that NATO acts with votes and there is no collegial position on such a thing.
