Seeing the flare-up of the situation in Israel after the killing of 6 Israeli hostages, Hamas has decided to add "gasoline" to the fire by issuing an announcement that it has given new orders for the treatment of the hostages if Israeli forces approach.
Hamas' armed wing says it has issued new instructions to guards for handling hostages if Israeli forces approach detention sites. Abu Ubaida, spokesman for the militant group's al-Qassam Brigades, did not explain what the new orders were.
He also said Israel was to blame for the deaths of the six hostages whose bodies were found on Saturday night.
According to the Israeli military, the hostages, aged between 23 and 40, were "brutally killed" shortly before Israeli forces found them in an underground tunnel.
At a news conference in the past hour, Benjamin Netanyahu apologized for their deaths, saying Israel was "so close" to retrieving them alive.
However, he denied personal responsibility and said their killings happened because Hamas did not want a deal. But apparently Hamas is playing the cards of the moment smartly.
