Airstrikes on Dahieh continue for several hours; Kuwait urges citizens to leave Lebanon immediately
Israeli military forces have carried out a series of airstrikes in Dahieh, the southern suburb of Beirut, an area that Tel Aviv considers a stronghold of the Hezbollah organization.
The Israeli military said warplanes had struck Hezbollah military infrastructure in the urban area. Residents reported loud explosions that continued for several hours overnight.
Israeli authorities had previously issued evacuation orders for Dahieh. This is a significant expansion of previous warnings, which were usually limited to specific buildings.
The latest attacks come as tensions in the region remain high due to the direct confrontation between Iran and Israel and the involvement of allied groups in Lebanon.
Amid the bombings, the Kuwaiti embassy in Lebanon called on its citizens to leave Lebanese territory as soon as possible for security reasons. Kuwaiti diplomacy warned of the risk of escalating the conflict in the Lebanese capital.
