3rd term as US President, Trump is not joking / Here are the scenarios that undo

When asked if he had been presented with plans to seek a third term, Trump said: "There are ways you can do that"...

Despite the fact that the US Constitution prohibits it, Donald Trump has not ruled out the possibility of running for a third term as US president. In fact, in an interview with NBC, he appeared confident that there are ways to do so, while assuring that he was "not kidding."

Amending the Constitution to eliminate the two-term limit would be extremely difficult, as it would require either 2/3 of Congress or 2/3 of the states agreeing to convene a constitutional convention to propose changes. Either way, it would then require ratification by 3/4 of the states.

The process has no time limit and could take many years to complete. The 22nd Amendment, which established two terms, was ratified by Congress in 1947 and by the states and did not become part of the Constitution until 1951.

"A lot of people are asking me to do it," he said, referring to his supporters. And he added, "I tell them we have a long way to go, we are still at the beginning of the mandate, now I am focused on the mandate."

He also cited his poll ratings, saying "many people would like him to stay in office" for a third term.

When asked by the reporter if he wanted a third term, Trump replied: "I like to work" and clarified that "I'm not kidding."

When asked if he had been presented with plans to seek a third term, Trump said: "There are ways you can do that."

NBC asked about a possible scenario in which Vice President JD Vance would run for the position and then hand over the office to Trump. The president responded that "that's one method, but there are others."

When asked to name another method, Trump simply refused to answer.

As NBC notes, Trump has commented in the past on the possibility of running for a third term in office, although Republicans considered these comments to be jokes or a... trolling of the president towards his critics.

Tennessee Representative Andy Ogle even drafted a resolution calling for an extension of presidential term limits, which would allow Trump to seek another term in office.

On the same wavelength is Steve Bannon, who had stated in an interview that he believes Trump "will run and win again in 2028". And he had referred to "alternative solutions" to determine how Trump could seek a third term despite the two-term limit on the presidency. /Adapted from Pamphlet/
