The head of a top judicial group in Ukraine has been suspended on suspicion of taking bribes to take a court case in favor of a business.
The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has suspended Oleksiy Salnikov from his important role as head of the State Judicial Administration until September 24. The court was established by former Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko in 2019.
But fighting corruption has been a key part of Volodymyr Zelenskyy's domestic policy throughout the war - he has repeatedly said that anyone involved in wartime corruption is effectively a traitor.
Allegations of corruption in the Supreme Court have been buzzing for months. The chief justice was arrested in May on suspicion of taking more than £2m in bribes.
Salnikov is accused of taking a much smaller bribe - just under £6,000 - in May this year. Prosecutors allege that the deal involved keeping some of the money for themselves and paying £4,000 to judges for a ruling in favor of a particular business.
