With minutes to go before his historic victory is officially announced, the head of the New Democracy party, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has made a statement to his supporters.
Mitsotakis said the Greek people gave New Democracy a strong mandate, stressing that the results of the two election contests mean the end of toxicity and the beginning of an era of stability.
He then added that he will reward the trust shown by the citizens with work. Speaking about the exercise of governance, he said that his party has secured a strong majority with which it will be able to proceed immediately with the necessary reforms.
“ I will remain true to my national duty of hard work, I will not tolerate arrogant or arrogant behavior. When I took my first steps 20 years ago, I never imagined that today I would be in front of you, having the honor and responsibility of being elected as an independent prime minister for the second time. I try to learn from my mistakes and I couldn't have done it without my partners. Thanks to my family for always keeping me grounded. Today we will enjoy our victory for a while, but from tomorrow morning we will roll up our sleeves again to build together a strong Greece with more prosperity and justice ", he said.
