With about 93.42 percent of the votes counted, the opposition Tisza party, led by Péter Magyar, has achieved an absolute majority, taking 138 seats in the 199-seat Parliament...

The vote counting process in Hungary is at its final stages. The opposition led by Péter Magyar has achieved an unexpected victory over the ruling Fidesz-KDNP party, led by Viktor Orban.

With about 93.42 percent of the votes counted, the opposition Tisza party, led by Péter Magyar, has achieved an absolute majority, taking 138 seats in the 199-seat Parliament.

From the national list, which has 93 seats; Orban's Fidesz-KDNP has so far received 42 MPs, while Tisza and Magyar have received 44 MPs, when 91 percent of the votes have been counted, for the national list.

Tisza: 44 mandates

Mi Hazánk (far-right party): 7 mandates

DK (Democratic Coalition): 0 seats

MKKP (Two-Tailed Dog Party): 0 seats

Meanwhile, in the list of individual (single-member) constituencies, where there are 106 seats available; the opposition Tisza party clearly leads with 94 seats, compared to Orban's party which has only received 12.

The total result, that of the national and individual (single-member) lists, speaks of the total dominance of the opposition party. Tisza, led by Péter Magyar, after counting 93 percent of the votes, has so far received 138 deputies, while Orbán's party has ended up with 54 mandates.

It is worth noting that the numbers may change by 1 or 2 mandates because 7 percent of the votes remain uncounted, but this will not affect the victory of the opposition Tisza party.
