In the heart of the Novgorod forests, about 370 kilometers northwest of Moscow, lies the luxurious Valdai residence, a hidden complex that serves as the personal refuge for Russian President Vladimir Putin and, according to new investigations, for his undeclared family.
According to a recent international media report, the palace is now surrounded by at least 20 modern air defense systems, including S-400 and Pantsir-M systems, a drastic increase compared to August this year, when there were only 12. A year ago, there were only seven. This sudden increase in protective measures is linked to fears of a possible Ukrainian attack, while Putin himself is believed to have temporarily abandoned his official residence in Novo-Ogarevo, which is more exposed to risks.
Valdai is not just a vacation home. According to multiple sources, the complex houses an underground nuclear bunker, advanced medical facilities, and a security apparatus that guards every corner of the residence. The area is controlled by the Federal Security Service (FSO), and anyone who dares to approach it without authorization faces penalties of up to two years of forced labor and fines of over 6,000 euros.
The report also notes that Putin is accompanied by Alina Kabaeva, a former Olympic gymnast who has been described by Russian media as the “state’s first mistress.” She lives in a separate wooden villa within the complex, along with the two sons she is believed to have with the president: 10-year-old Ivan and 6-year-old Vladimir Junior.
This latest development shows that Putin is moving towards a deep physical and symbolic isolation, withdrawing from the public stage and closing himself behind a wall of steel and propaganda. This residence, turned into a fortress, is a clear metaphor for the current state of the Russian regime: protected, frightened and increasingly distant from the reality of Russian citizens and the Western world.
