The repeated presence of drones over the Fort McNair military base in Washington has alarmed US authorities, prompting an immediate increase in security measures and intensified surveillance in the area. According to the Washington Post, these aerial vehicles have been repeatedly spotted in recent days, especially at night, while their origin remains unknown.
Fort McNair is considered a strategic point, as it is home to important institutions such as the National Defense University, as well as senior Pentagon officials. The base is also home to senior US government figures, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. Although it has not previously served as a refuge for political leaders, several Trump administration officials have been relocated there due to heightened concerns about their personal security.
According to official sources, the appearance of drones for about ten days in a row has forced institutions to take additional protective measures and hold a meeting at the White House to determine the next steps. A senior official confirmed that the level of readiness has increased significantly, especially in a tense security climate following recent international developments, including the US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
Security experts point out that this base does not have the same level of protection as some other military installations in the region, which increases concerns about the safety of senior personnel stationed there. Meanwhile, US authorities continue their investigations to clarify the origin of the drones and to ensure stricter control of the airspace around Fort McNair.
