United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has stated that the naval blockade of Iranian ports is expanding and taking on global proportions.
During a press conference at the Pentagon, Hegseth emphasized that American control in the region has been significantly strengthened, noting the key role of the US Navy in monitoring maritime traffic.
"No one sails from the Strait of Hormuz to any country in the world without permission from the United States Navy," he said.
The Secretary of Defense also announced that another aircraft carrier will join the operation in the coming days, further increasing the US military presence in the area.
He praised the measures taken so far as successful, citing the seizure of two Iran-linked ships in the Indo-Pacific region.
"They thought they had made it just in time. They didn't. We seized their sanctioned ships and we will seize more," Hegseth declared.
The developments come at a time of heightened tension in the region, as the US appears determined to intensify pressure on Iran through naval control.
