Donald Trump says he has filed a $15 billion lawsuit against the New York Times newspaper, alleging defamation and slander.
In a post on social media, the American President accused the newspaper of a "method of lying about your favorite President (me!), my family, business, the America First Movement, MAGA, and our Nation as a whole."
The president singled out the New York Times' support for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election and said the newspaper had become a "virtual mouthpiece for the Radical Left Democratic Party."
The lawsuit was being filed in Florida, he said, without giving further details. Reuters reported that a court filing showed Trump was suing the newspaper.
He cited previous examples of lawsuits filed against ABC News and host George Stephanopoulos, as well as Paramount over their 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris.
Both cases were settled for $15 million and $16 million, respectively.
The New York Times did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside regular business hours.
