President Donald Trump's effort to end the war in Gaza is a key foreign policy priority that will unfold today, especially in light of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the White House tomorrow.
Trump just addressed the issue again on social media, writing this morning that there is a real chance for greatness in the Middle East.
The administration is working to complete a 21-point peace plan for Gaza, which would include the release of all hostages held by Hamas.
" We are all on board for something special, for the first time we will get it done ," Trump wrote.
Vice President JD Vance has backed Trump's optimism, telling "Fox News Sunday" that he is "very optimistic."
"I think the president has brought us to a point where we are very close to the finish line, and we all have a lot of hope that we can somehow cross the finish line and achieve something big, very big for peace in the region ," Vance said in a pre-recorded interview that aired today.
The vice president said he feels more optimistic than he has been "at any point in recent months," although he warned that talks could always break down at the last minute.
The administration has previously expressed optimism about a peace deal before seeing those hopes dashed due to disagreements with Hamas.
