The wife of former Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny, Yulia Navalnaya, received the news from state sources while in Munich for the Security Conference.
"I don't know if I should believe this terrible news or not," she said.
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Yulia Navalnaya said news of her husband's death came only from state sources.
"We can't really trust Putin and his government," she says.
She then adds that if the news of her husband's death is true, Putin and his allies must take personal responsibility for him and for everything they are doing to Russia.
"I'm asking everyone here to come together and help punish the Russian regime," Navalnaya said.
