European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has told the Financial Times that Europe already has a "fairly precise" plan to send troops to Ukraine.
In the interview, she reiterated that security guarantees for Ukraine remain a priority for Europe. According to the FT, von der Leyen added that Donald Trump had assured Europeans that there would be an American presence in some form or another as part of the support for Kiev, something that, according to the newspaper, has been confirmed to them several times.
The President of the European Commission also claimed that there is a clear path and an agreement with the White House, elements that have been called into question in recent weeks.
The FT also reported that British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and von der Leyen herself are expected to gather in Paris on Thursday.
After a summit in Washington this month between Trump and European leaders, Ukraine's allies remained optimistic about a possible end to the war. However, since then, in the face of Moscow's rejection of most proposals put forward, Europe has struggled to keep the momentum going and push forward.
