An accident resulting in the death of one person was recorded this evening on the Mamurras-Milot road axis, one of the busiest traffic segments in the north of the country.
According to preliminary data, a vehicle hit a pedestrian, who was crossing the road at the time of the incident. Due to the strong impact, the victim died on the spot, unable to survive the injuries he sustained.
Police forces and an investigation team immediately arrived at the scene and began operations to fully clarify the circumstances and determine legal responsibilities. As of late, the identities of the victim and the driver of the vehicle have not yet been made public.
The incident has caused concern among residents of the area, who have long been demanding concrete safety measures on this road segment, where lighting is lacking and vehicles often travel at speeds exceeding the permitted speed limit.
Residents are appealing to authorities to install traffic lights, lighting, and warning signs to avoid further tragedies on a road that has long been a "black spot" for accidents.
