The head of the State Police, Muhamet Rrumbullaku, gave a press conference for the operation carried out on Wednesday evening, codenamed "Never Forget".
He said that a total of 16 criminal events have been revealed, including 6 murders, 5 cases of destruction of property with explosives, 2 cases of violent theft and 3 cases of providing the conditions for murder.
Rrumbullaku said that 15 arrest warrants have been issued, of which 12 have been executed, while 3 people have been declared wanted.
Also, Rrumbullaku listed all the crimes committed by this group with specific dates and names.
The name that presides over these serious events that happened during the last 5 years in different cities of the country, is that of Laert Haxhi.
But among those arrested is 27-year-old Klea Gjata, from Lushnja, partner of Laert Haxhi.
"Klea Gjata, 27 years old, a resident of Lushnja, is suspected of the criminal offenses of "Supporting the author of the crime" and "Abetment of the crime", Rrumbullaku told the media.
It is suspected that Klea Gjata is involved in the murder of Alban Semaku in 2021.
Who was Alban Semaku:
Alban Semaku, otherwise known as "Kinezi", was found murdered near the Shkumbin river in Peqin. The victim is known as a friend and close associate of the "capon" of the Lushnje gang, Aldo Baren. But until 2011, it bore the name Elton Mermali.
'The Chinese' was a member of the Lushnja gang, a group with over 100 members, led by Aldo Baren, who was the leader with absolute authority. Mermali himself was convicted of a murder committed in 2003, for which he was extradited from Italy in 2006. After leaving prison, it seems that he did not choose to return to normal life.
He ended up behind bars again, but this time for other criminal offenses related to threatening citizens, but also the production and sale of narcotics. In 2015, he was arrested after threatening a citizen with a firearm for flimsy reasons, while he had left the cell only a few months before. Semaku was previously sentenced to 6 years in prison for murder and was known as a member of the Lushnje Gang, headed by Aldo Bare.
