The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) has found guilty Gëzim Bakalli and Erjon Loci, considered by the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) to be the two main leaders of a structured criminal group that dealt with narcotics trafficking to Switzerland.
The case relates to criminal proceedings no. 108, of 2024, for which SPAK filed a request for trial with the Court. The process was conducted under the rules of summary trial.
With decision no. 11, dated February 10, 2026, the trial panel composed of judges Erjon Çela, Flora Hajredinaj and Rudina Palloj sentenced the defendants for several criminal offenses.
Gëzim Bakalli, also known by the alias Shkëmbim Cërmanji, was found guilty of:
trafficking in narcotics within the framework of a structured criminal group and more than once;
-leading a structured criminal group;
-forgery of documents, including identity cards, passports, visas and civil status records.
The court initially imposed a combined sentence of 19 years in prison, which, due to the summary trial, was reduced by a third, converting to 12 years and 8 months in prison. The sentence will be served in a high-security institution.
Erjon Loci was found guilty of:
-production and sale of narcotics within the framework of a structured criminal group and more than once;
-participation in a structured criminal group.
For these offenses, the Court imposed a single sentence of 12 years in prison, which after being reduced by one third due to the summary trial was converted to 8 years in prison. The sentence will be served in a high-security prison, starting from the day of arrest.
The court ruled that some of the seized documents, electronic devices, and personal belongings should remain part of the file of a separate criminal proceeding, while the forged documents, including passports and identity cards, should be destroyed according to the law.
The procedural costs of the investigation phase, in the amount of 43,630 lek, as well as court costs, will be borne by the defendants jointly and severally.
