During the investigations, a total of 45 kilograms of cocaine, 150 kilograms of marijuana, 1.5 kg of hashish and 900 thousand euros in cash were seized.

24 people were arrested by the Guardia di Finanza in the early hours of the morning, during an operation to dismantle two drug-trafficking organizations based in Turin and Alessandria.

The operation began at dawn with the activation of about 120 effectives belonging to the Provincial Command of Turin and the Central Organized Crime Investigation Service (SCICO) of Rome, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office - Antimafia Directorate of the Turin District.

The affected territory is quite large: Piedmont, but also Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Abruzzo. All those arrested have serious evidence against them, which suggests that they belong to two separate criminal associations aimed at trafficking and trading large quantities of narcotics (mainly cocaine and marijuana).

The investigations were long and complex and included wiretapping and wiretapping.

The people involved are all Italians and Albanians.

The first of the two groups had a logistical base in Turin and a center of interests in the Piedmontese capital and the municipalities of the northern area of the city, with branches and connections to other Piedmontese provinces and neighboring regions.

Communications between members of the association took place through first generation mobile phones specially dedicated for similar occasions.

In an emergency, they could replace couriers to continue illegal activities and deliveries, even if the drugs were seized and the people involved were stopped by the police. Specializing in cocaine trafficking, they had a clientele that reached from Turin, Asti and Cuneo in Tuscany. In charge was a 58-year-old Albanian, who had been living in the province of Turin for over 20 years.

The second group also acted as a "supplier" of the Turin group. In charge was a 39-year-old Albanian, who had also been operating in this territory for about 20 years.

He was the one who connected with the suppliers in Albania, negotiating the quantities and prices of cocaine, but also of cannabis and marijuana.

The drugs traveled in modified vehicles with double bottoms and special hiding places.

During the investigations, a total of 45 kilograms of cocaine, 150 kilograms of marijuana, 1.5 kg of hashish and 900 thousand euros in cash were seized.

The quantities of seized narcotics, if they were thrown into the "retail" market, could have brought illegal income of at least 6 million euros.
