This is the moment when Elvis Shkëmbi, the perpetrator of the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja, and his uncle, Gjon Shkëmbi, arrive handcuffed at the Tirana Police Department, a few hours after the crime that shocked public opinion and the justice system.
The footage shows the two arrested people in handcuffs, accompanied by RENEA and Criminal Police forces, under strict security measures.
According to investigative sources, 30-year-old Shkëmbi managed to enter the Court of Appeals hall without any obstacles from the security system. At the moment when Judge Kalaja announced the decision, which was in favor of the other party in the process, he pulled out his gun and shot four times, hitting her three times in the chest.
The victim died on the spot, while two other people, a father and son, part of the opposing party in the case - were injured.
Elvis Shkëmbi had accompanied his uncle, Gjon Shkëmbi, to the hearing. Their family claimed that they were being wronged over a property in Shkodra, a process that had been dragging on in the courts for years.
Sources from the investigation confirm that at the police station the perpetrator showed no signs of remorse. He admitted to the crime and stated that he "did it because his family had been wronged."
