An Albanian arrested for drug trafficking in Pesaro, Italy, has repented before the judge in the case, apologizing and confessing that he had to do this profitable 'illegal business' because of his sick father in Albania and to provide income for his treatment.
At yesterday's (February 24) hearing, the 20-year-old suspect, defended by lawyer Simona Conti, made statements regarding the incident and the causes. The 20-year-old had been in Pesaro for about a month, staying in a residence. A practice that is spreading so much recently with "scattering tourists", who are hired for 3 months with a good salary and are replaced by others when this period of free movement ends.
The Albanian courier was caught while traveling in a rented car and that was enough to put him in the spotlight. So he was kept under surveillance and last Friday, at lunchtime, the police stopped the car in the Cattabrighe area, convinced that he could be returning from a gas station in Romagna. And so it happened, because as soon as the 20-year-old was forced to get out, the police found a package, not even hidden, but in plain sight on the passenger seat, with about 100 grams of cocaine ready for sale, because they were already divided into doses.
The search continued in the apartment where he was staying and where all the useful tools for packaging were found: a precision scale, a cutter and various items. There was also a jar of rice, a trick used by drug dealers to better preserve cocaine. The young man also had 500 euros with him, believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking. Yesterday morning, before the judge, he made statements in Albanian, assisted by a translator, Italian media reported.
The Albanian admitted the charges and apologized, saying that " he did this to have some money to send to his family, as his father is seriously ill". The judge confirmed the arrest and imposed the security measure of house arrest. The boy will temporarily stay with his uncles until the end of the process, as the hearing was postponed.
