The Deputy of the Democratic Party Gazment Bardhi participated in the meeting of the Association Stabilization Commission in the European Parliament where he used the opportunity to present the situation of the Albanian opposition to the MEPs.
In his speech, Bardhi said that there is currently no normality in the Parliament of Albania and this is a consequence of the lack of constitutional rights of the opposition.
"In total, there are 8 requests for investigative commissions and only in the last session, 3 requests for investigative commissions were dismissed within 1 week. 4 requests for interpellation by the country's prime minister on matters of interest to the public were rejected. 31 draft laws of the opposition MPs are kept unreviewed, while as for the laws commissioned by the MPs or colleagues of the majority, they are approved without being put on the calendar, without passing 2 weeks from their filing in the parliament. This is the reason why the opposition MPs have not allowed the normal functioning of the parliament without restoring those rights recognized by the Constitution of the Republic of Albania", said Bardhi.
Deputy Bardhi said that despite the fact that the majority calls for dialogue, during the last three months, their aggressive and arrogant measures against the opposition have increased.
As for the need for free and fair elections, Bardhi said that the work of the bipartisan electoral reform commission has been blocked and this commission has not held any meetings.
