Journalist Anduena Llabani insists that Prime Minister Edi Rama was questioned in the US, in the presence of a lawyer, regarding the McGonigal dossier.
In the News24 studio, Llabani said that Edi Rama has traveled to the US, accompanied by a lawyer, although he did not say when this was.
"I have never been wrong, I say this with full responsibility, I have not hit on the date, but not in fact. Yes, Mr. Rama has been in America accompanied by a lawyer," said Llabani.
Some time ago, the journalist announced that Edi Rama would travel to the US, accompanied by a lawyer, and would be questioned about the case of Charles McGonigal, the former director of the FBI's New York office's anti-terrorism division, who, according to American authorities, had received payments from an Albanian, a former secret service agent. Rama has claimed in public statements that McGonigal was a friend of his, while a criminal complaint has been filed against him by the opposition in SPAK, regarding the former FBI agent's file.
"If Mr. Rama or his media advisors want to deny this fact, let them do so, but I say with full responsibility that Rama has been to the US and testified on behalf of American justice."
I want to explain the reasons why Rama may have been in the US and testified on behalf of the Americans.
In November last year, the American court released or issued a conditional release decision for Charles McGonigal. Albanian prosecutors have had communication by letter of recommendation with the authorities in the US. No one has denied that SPAK has not started verifications for McGonigal, and several Albanian figures have even been questioned by SPAK. The only one who has not been questioned is Prime Minister Rama," said Llabani.
