Removal of Berisha's immunity, DP deputy: Don't expect normality even

Enkelejd Alibeaj's vote for the removal of Sali Berisha's immunity in the Council of Mandates two days ago was not a surprise at all for DP deputy Ina Zhupa, according to whom this once again reflected the internal crisis.

In Ditar's studio on A2 CNN, she said that it was a surprise that a commission, for the first time in the history of parliamentarianism, removed the immunity of a deputy without bringing evidence from the prosecution.

" Personally, I didn't have any surprises. They have expressed their position and this battle within the Democratic Party would be reflected there as well, because we have treated each other more adversarially than the SP deputies. There were no surprises. However, in the concept of the commission, it was a surprise that a commission for the first time in the history of parliamentarianism removed the immunity of a deputy without bringing evidence from the prosecution. Even Berisha's immunity was removed before. It has never happened in the Assembly to make comments on the court's decision, the Constitution does not allow the Assembly to make a substitution. You turn to the Assembly to take the measure. And the relationship in that case is between the Assembly and the Prosecutor's Office and not the Court Assembly, as they tried in the Berisha case ," she said.

For MP Zhupa, that session should have been postponed or suspended until the Constitutional Court answered the interpretation of the immunity article.

" It was blatant when we 30 MPs addressed the Constitutional Court for the interpretation of Article 73 point 2 of the constitution on immunity, that they should understand that it is not about Mr. Berisha, but about every MP and what was done to the MP is worse for every citizen . That session should either have been suspended or postponed and should always be taken on the basis of the evidence and not the Court's decisions ", continued Zhupa.

Asked about tomorrow's session in the Parliament when the removal of Sali Berisha's immunity is expected to be voted on, Zhupa emphasized that it will be the same scenario.

" If they want normality, they should put the establishment of investigative commissions and the co-chairman of the electoral reform on the agenda. Tomorrow there will be coordination of the situation inside and outside the parliament to oppose the violation of the constitution and the taking away of citizens' rights. Don't expect normality even tomorrow ", declared the MP.
