"Living minimum 200 euros", Berisha 'opens the bag':
Democratic leader, Sali Berisha, during a meeting with experts

A living wage of 200 euros must be urgently established and increased year after year, according to the dynamics to eradicate extreme poverty.

The proposal was made by Democratic leader Sali Berisha during a meeting with social issues experts, thus presenting some of the points of the program that the Democrats will unveil for the upcoming elections.

Berisha said that there are no people more mistreated, more ignored than Albanian pensioners, something they never deserve.

For the democratic leader, if the trend undertaken in the years 2005-2013, for increasing salaries and pensions, were respected, they should be at least three times greater today than they are.

" In countries that have followed this trend, they are three and four times higher than they were in 2013."

But this increase in Albania has only occurred with the highest salaries, while the lowest salaries, if they are proportional to inflation, have not even doubled. No, much less than doubled.

So, this is a situation where hunger sirens are sounding in all four corners of the country, and these government officials have an answer: no one in Albania is suffering for bread.

If you listen to them, this is their answer to those who spend their day on 2 euros or those who spend their day on less than 5 euros.

In fact, they are in deep poverty, while others are deeply threatened by poverty.

In these circumstances, the DP has announced and stands for the establishment of a living wage.

The living wage is the most minimal, most necessary, most urgent response to this situation that has been created for these 13 years.

Only with the living wage, guaranteeing every citizen of this country no less than 200 euros, a living wage of 200 euros, will it be possible to create and change the painful situation we find ourselves in today.

There is no obstacle to establishing a living wage. And a living wage cannot be the only answer to this situation.

The subsistence minimum will be accompanied by a series of other social measures, which guarantee Albanians a life at its minimum sufficient for food, clothing, medicine, and movement.

So, it is an emergency response, which must be decided as soon as possible and must recognize its own dynamics and grow year after year, following all indicators so that existing poverty receives a definitive response.

Albania cannot possibly have extreme poverty.

"Extreme poverty is a state crime today because it is a situation accepted by the government ," Berisha said.
