The Freedom Party requests a recount of the votes of May 11. Through a request filed with the CEC signed by Tedi Blushi, Secretary General of the Freedom Party, a recount of votes in the Municipality of Kavaja, Tirana District, is requested.
In the official request, Blushi emphasizes that all ballots in the Municipality of Kavaja, including Golemi, Synej, Helmas and Luz i Vogël, should be recounted, as there are reasonable suspicions of irregularities during the vote counting process.
"Our request is in function of the transparency and legitimacy of the final result," Blushi emphasized.
This is the first request that an opposition party has made for a vote recount, while Sali Berisha's Democrats have stated that they will follow the entire process step by step, as they are now in the appeal phase for non-recognition of results.
So far, Berisha's DP has not requested the opening of ballot boxes in any area, although it has stated several times in public statements that it will aim for total transparency for May 11, while warning of non-recognition of the result.
