After the Greeks, the Turks also harshly attack Rama: Clown and immoral!

Visit to Israel is not easily digested by Turks...

After strong criticism from Greece, Prime Minister Edi Rama is now facing a harsh attack from Turkey. In a development that is attracting attention, two historically rival states, Greece and Turkey, appear to have “joined forces” in criticizing Rama, placing him at the center of media and analytical attacks from both sides.

The latest attack comes from Turkey, where analyst Ayhan Demir, in an article published in the Turkish media outlet " Yeniakit ", has used extremely harsh language towards the Albanian Prime Minister, following his visit to Israel and speech in the Knesset.

Demir begins his analysis by comparing Rama to a “clown,” referring to the Turkish Language Association’s definition of the term. According to him, Rama fulfills all the characteristics of a political clown, from exaggerated clothing and provocative behavior, to statements that are more aimed at show than serious representation of a state.

The Turkish analyst dwells at length on Rama's artistic past, nude photos, stances on sexuality, provocative gestures at protests and his unusual style at official events, describing these as signs of a leader who, according to him, "has turned immorality into a code of conduct."

The main focus of the article is Rama’s visit to Israel, which Demir calls “scandalous” and “shameful.” He sharply criticizes Rama’s statements in the Israeli parliament, where the Prime Minister spoke about his family’s religious affiliation and expressed admiration for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to Demir, Rama avoided any criticism of the war in Gaza and blamed Hamas, ignoring Palestinian civilian casualties.

"Edi Rama shamed Albania and the Albanian people," Demir writes, adding that countries not only have interests, but also honor and reputation, which, according to him, Rama has seriously violated.

The Turkish analyst goes further, claiming that the visit to Israel had personal motives. According to him, Rama is seeking international support due to corruption investigations in Albania and fears of losing power and facing justice. He compares Rama to Netanyahu, writing that “both face corruption trials” and using the ironic expression that “the blind and the deaf are entertaining each other.”

Demir also calls Rama's joke about Mossad during his speech in the Knesset "disgusting," describing it as a sign of fear and political submission.

This attack from Turkey comes just days after the Greek media outlet "Protothema" published a long article critical of Rama, following his statements on the identity and origin of Greeks. In that article, Rama was accused of contradictions on the origin of his family, of selective use of history and of antipathetic attitudes towards Greece, despite historical and family ties.

"Protothema" also recalled Rama's statement in Abu Dhabi, where he told a Greek-American journalist that "you are not a descendant of Plato and Aristotle," as well as the speech in the Knesset, describing it as provocative and politically calculated.

The fact that harsh criticism is coming simultaneously from Athens and Ankara, two countries traditionally considered "enemies", is being seen by analysts as a signal of Rama's increasing isolation in the regional discourse. Although for different reasons and from opposing perspectives, both Turkey and Greece have targeted the Albanian Prime Minister. / Pamphlet
