Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke at the Peace Board where he praised President Donald Trump's role in achieving the ceasefire in Gaza. At the same time, he used the forum to raise the issue of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue and the situation of former KLA leaders in The Hague...

Prime Minister Edi Rama delivered his speech at the Peace Board, where, as expected, he did not stop praising President Donald Trump.

After President Trump and the other Board members, several of the participating leaders took the floor. Rama began his speech by thanking Trump, while addressing rumors that the Board will replace the UN. He also mentioned the trial being held in The Hague against former KLA leaders.

" Thank you for inviting me to be part of this journey. The aligned vote in our parliament speaks for itself how honored Albania is. Many say that the Peace Board is to replace the UN. It doesn't seem like a replacement to me, but if it helps to shake it up. God bless the Peace Board ," Rama said.

Referring to the conflict in the Middle East, the Albanian Prime Minister commended, according to him, the role of President Trump.

" We commend your decisive role in ending the heartbreaking conflict in Gaza. I have proposed that this board invite all countries to contribute to a public facility for the children of Palestine. By doing so, we will help the most innocent hostages of Hamas' madness ," he declared.

Rama continued: "Not only by putting in the money, but also by bringing in our architects so that the world can transform wounds into signs of hope. Albania is an honor in this chain."

The Prime Minister also touched on the issue of Kosovo and the trial of former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army at the Special Court in The Hague.

" Let me bring attention to a conflict very close to Albania. The President of Kosovo at that time was prevented from signing the agreement with President Trump, today the President of Kosovo has spent 6 years in detention in The Hague. Some here should be ashamed of that process. At this moment, we are only a few months away from a man who stood up to ethnic cleansing. I thank you very much for including Albania in this Board ," Rama said.

So, as expected, Rama used this meeting to praise Trump in the hope of gaining support. While he undoubtedly made an impression by raising the issue of the Hague tribunal.

Full speech

Thank you for inviting me to be part of this journey, Mr. President. The full and unified bipartisan vote in our parliament in support of this initiative speaks for itself of the honor that Albania feels as a founding member of this new organization.

Many in Europe say that the Peace Board aims to replace the United Nations. It doesn't seem to me like an attempt to replace the UN, but if it helps to shake that hardened giant and, God willing, to wake it up, then God bless the Peace Board.

Mr. President, we appreciate your decisive role in stopping the horrific conflict in Gaza. Albania has confirmed its participation in the stabilization force with our troops.

At the same time, I propose that this board invite all countries to contribute directly by building a public structure dedicated to Palestinian children. By doing so, the world would help the children of Gaza, who are the most innocent hostages of Hamas' madness, to grow up under the tangible presence of the greatest chain of hands that humanity has ever joined.

Not only by providing funds, but also by bringing their architects into this process, so that the world can transform a wound of history into an oasis of hope, where compassion takes concrete form and the future is built around those who deserve it most, the new generations of Palestinians. Albania would be privileged to stand in that chain.

Let me very briefly draw your attention to another open conflict, closer to home, where President Trump's leadership during his first term brought Kosovo and Serbia closer than ever to a final peace agreement.

The President of Kosovo was then brutally prevented from traveling to the White House to sign that agreement in the presence of President Trump. This, it is said, was the work of the same prosecutor who took action against President Trump himself and for which he became known around the world.

Today, the President of Kosovo has spent six years in detention before a special court in The Hague, supported by several democratic states, some of which are present here, which should be ashamed of this kind of international justice.

Just last week, Mr. President, another prosecutor, funded by this great country and its taxpayers, asked for 45 years in prison for him, a request that caused shock and a sense of humiliation in a nation seeking peace.

At this point, only a few months separate a man who rose from resistance to ethnic cleansing to become a peacemaker from a potentially devastating outcome in a court that, according to the statement, has so far failed at every turn to uphold standards of democratic justice.

For God's sake, Mr. President, let's do something before, as you say, very bad things happen again.

And once again, I thank you very much for including Albania in this noble initiative. By bringing close friends of Israel and the Arab countries closer together, we hope to be an added value to your ambitious vision.
