The government plans to make a new fleet of vehicles available to local governments for the maintenance of drainage and irrigation canals.
Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the project aims to improve preparatory work for future seasons, with the aim of facilitating irrigation and reducing the consequences of floods.
According to him, funding will be provided by the United Arab Emirates, while implementation is expected to begin in the coming months.
The distribution of funds will be done according to certain defined criteria, making them available to municipalities throughout the territory.
The project aims to strengthen local capacities in water infrastructure management.
"A new fleet of vehicles that helps with cleaning canals and the necessary preparatory work for the following seasons to ease both the irrigation processes and the consequences resulting from floods. It is a project that we will implement in the coming months with significant financial support from the United Arab Emirates and based on some simple criteria, this fleet will also be allocated to the territory, putting them into use by municipalities," said Rama.
