CEC Head Ilirjan Celibashi discussed the ODIHR report on the elections, focusing on new parties.
During the interview, Celibashi said that the current system is not very favorable to new parties, while adding that this problem is not only in our country.
" Not only here in Albania but also in reality where the standard of democracy is higher than ours, this problem exists, where the old have a harder time making way for the young. It is always this inability of the new political forces to find their space," he said on ABC.
Celibashi added that the recent elections were of European standards and produced legitimate results despite being opposed by the opposition.
"I did not want to hide it and I see no reason to show hypocritical modesty. If you look at the message that I have conveyed publicly, it aims to show something else. Each of us who is related to the electoral process sees themselves in this report and each of us has his own reading. What is most important in my judgment is what we will do with the future in relation to what has happened.
These elections were of a European standard, and why does it seem politicized when you are faced with a stance of the country's opposition. With all the appreciation for what the opposition represents, I do not hesitate to confirm that beyond the problems that ODIHR has photographed, the elections have produced a government that enjoys legitimacy and is a result of the will of the voter. I cannot say if there is a farce, I cannot accept it. "- Celibashi expressed.
