The first groups of supporters have arrived at the square shortly before the start of the national protest organized by the Democratic Party.
Participants showed up with banners containing messages against Prime Minister Edi Rama.

One of the slogans that stood out was "Vote today, vote tomorrow."

The opposition is holding this as its fourth national protest this year. Organizers are demanding the prime minister's resignation, linking the call to issues they say involve the socialist government.
The protesters are also demanding the creation of a caretaker government with the aim of organizing free and fair elections.
The rally is expected to continue with the participation of opposition leaders and their supporters.
