Now the sterilization file is entering the most culminating investigative phase, and we expect to have the second phase of official implications. For this reason, the statements of the person who won the PPP and how his depositions are matched with those of the former minister are important. It is expected that this autumn will be very hot, and we will be in the period of the fall of the 'big fish' in the net.
The contract for the sterilization of surgical instruments is in its seventh year of operation, and the company that won the concession is being paid for incomplete services.
According to the KLSH report, the costs for sterilization and the supply of surgical instruments continue to be outside the provisions of the contract.
The report underlines that the total service performed by the concessionaire for 2019 is 1,685 million ALL from 2,087 million ALL performed in 2018.
According to these data, for 2019, 403 million Lek services were performed, less than a year ago.
In this same year, the arrears for the months of November-December 2018 were paid in the amount of 614 million ALL and the total liquidated service amounts to 2 163 million ALL.
But the number of sterilized equipment seems to have decreased year after year, since 1,252 million ALL services were performed in 2020, 433 million ALL less than in 2019.
Based on these data, KLSH estimates that the pandemic factor, the avoidance of planned surgical operations in hospitals for the period of isolation, as well as the amendment of the sterilization contract in January influenced the decrease in the number of surgical interventions according to complexity and steam packs. of 2020, for the total number of interventions carried out during a year.
The audit has revealed that there is no control system for the costs of the medical equipment sterilization concessionaire and that there is no trace for the controlled cards to identify if there are discrepancies of the sets that have been used in an intervention.
In this way, it is impossible to calculate the economic value of using sets with high complexity in violation of the contract.
