Prime Minister Edi Rama tried to convince his Greek counterpart in the corridors of the building where the summit for the Western Balkans was held, as far as the blockade on the Beler issue is concerned.
At the end of the summit held today in Brussels between the representatives of the European Union and those of the Western Balkans, the cameras also focused on a confrontation between Prime Minister Rama and his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
In the published images, Rama seems to be talking with the head of the Greek government, who has warned that he will veto Albania's membership in the European Union.
According to her, not allowing the elected mayor of Himara Fredi Beleri to take the oath is an action that contradicts the principles of the rule of law.
" The issue of Fredi Beleri taking office and his right to a fair trial is not a bilateral Greece-Albania issue, but a matter of respect for the rule of law, which is the crown of the accession process. Our country remains one of the pioneers of the Western Balkans membership perspective ", Mitsotakis is reported to have said.
