Jorgo Pëllumbi was made official just a few hours ago to the Debrecen team. The Albanian defender decided to end his 3-year adventure in Croatia with the Varazdin team and then to transfer to Hungary to the team where Myrto Uzuni also played before.
Varazdin's team has benefited 100 thousand euros from the sale of the 23-year-old. While with the Hungarians, Pëllumbi has signed a 3.5 year contract from which he will benefit 600 thousand euros in total. Also, the red and black defender has worn the Albania U-21 shirt 12 times.
In a statement for "Newsport.al", the central defender shows that there were other offers besides Debrecen, showing the reasons for the transfer to the latter. Pëllumbi also hopes that with his growth as a footballer, he will soon receive an invitation from the Albanian National Team.
" I think that after 3 years at Varazdin, the time has come for a change that I believe will help my growth as a player. I had other offers, but I think that the transfer to Derbeceni was the right one and will have a more positive impact on my career. If I manage to perform well, I believe that it is possible to receive an invitation from the National Team in the future. It's something I really hope for.
Some of the reasons that convinced me to move to Debrecen are because this team has a great history and aims for European Cups every year. And what is most important, the philosophy that the coach has given to the team is the one that suits me the most.
As a footballer I think it is important to set goals and work hard to achieve them. But to tell you the truth, I don't like to make long-term plans. At the moment I am focused on my new team to adapt as soon as possible. We will see for the future ", said Jorgo Pëllumbi for Newsport.al.
