The chairman of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, Agron Duka, during an interview stated that the unity of the opposition can hardly be achieved only by internationals.
The duke remained faithful to the idea of confederation, stressing that one should think about the next parliamentary elections and a fragmented opposition does not inspire confidence in the people.
According to Duke, instead of complaining and blaming different individuals within the DP, only overcoming ourselves can bring about unity.
" It may seem difficult, but two minds are meant to unite. If we go around one of these names, Berisha or Basha, we do not serve unity but division. Both of these political figures should be out at the moment, so not opposition leaders. Appoint 3-4 coordinators who will lead the opposition under the required conditions, where we have a department for international relations, which we have very weak. Later then each of these can run to take the leadership ", said Duka on "Top Channel".
For all the non-believers, the head of the PAA added that this plan is not an invention, but was made by the SP when the leader Fatos Nano was in prison.
What do you think about the action of the opposition? Today, Mr. Noka emphasized that on Monday there will be a protest in front of the Assembly that will be one of the nationwide protests to show civil disobedience.
This whole term civil disobedience is a bit strong, so often it seems to be used interchangeably. Civil disobedience means disobeying the rules of the state, which we haven't seen so far. If these are sufficient only to that part where the works of the parliament are blocked, this is not the right term to use. I haven't heard Noka's statement, I know what the protest will be about...
There were three reasons: the exclusion of 19 deputies, the non-establishment of investigative commissions and the failure to change the composition and co-direction of the Special Electoral Reform Commission.
All these points require their own attention and they are right. It is important that this does not only have the sensitivity of the members of the Parliament, but also the sensitivity of the opposition people and the entire Albanian people. If people are sensitive to these injustices then a national response is needed.
What effect has the opposition action had in recent months?
It does not inspire much confidence with such a fragmented opposition. An opposition that is too busy with itself. Today, for example: Basha in his speech anathematized the rest of the opposition, saying that we are the ones who will advance the reform, etc., etc. On the other hand, we have Reestablishment, which considers the official PD an extension of power. I do not believe that these kinds of rhetoric unite the people in large protests. I have said and I say that there is no hope for the next parliamentary elections if the opposition does not appear united in the elections. And here I am not talking ideologically, but at least have a common agenda and Electoral Reform be part of that agenda. While we agree on all these points regarding Electoral Reform, why not ask for them all together? The task of the opposition is to contribute to the unification of the opposition. Berisha and Basha should be fairer and overcome their differences for the sake of uniting the opposition. If each of them will persist, it seems that each of them wants to survive in politics but does not inspire much hope of power.
The mistakes of the opposition since the burning of mandates, non-participation in territorial reform and non-participation in local elections are mistakes that cost the opposition years. Now instead of arguing and blaming different individuals within the DP, only overcoming ourselves can bring about unity. It may seem difficult, but two minds are meant to be joined. If we go around one of these names, Berisha or Basha, we do not serve unity but division. Both of these political figures should be out at the moment, so not opposition leaders. Appoint 3-4 coordinators who will lead the opposition under the required conditions, where we have a department for international relations, which we have very weak. Later then each of these can run to take the leadership. What I am saying are not inventions, but were made by the SP when the leader Fatos Nano was in prison.
