Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu has called the removal of the microphone from the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe a shame.
Spahiu said that no European leader, even from unfriendly countries like Serbia or Greece, has spoken in international forums about Albania in the same way that Berisha did. Spahiu added that it is not possible for a defendant like Berisha for corruption to come forward and accuse his own country.
" I follow the most important sessions that take place in the European Council, the European Commission and the European Union, because of the curiosity I have for international sessions. I am telling you one thing with conviction, Sali Berisha's speech is a real shame, both for that podium and for Albanian politics. This goes down in the history of parliamentarism, there is no European leader, in power or in opposition, who throws venom against his state. There is no speech by a Serbian, Greek or Russian politician, who, in an international forum, throws accusations against the Albanian state. The question is very simple, how is it possible that there is no foreign leader who says that Albania is a narcostate, who says that Albanians are like Colombians, they are the main cocaine and heroin cartels in Europe or on the planet.
Listen to the speeches of European opposition leaders about what they say about their country. I accept that Sali Berisha says everything in the Albanian Parliament, in the protests he organizes, but how is it possible, a defendant, went and accused his own country in international forums. A defendant for corruption, roams freely and speaks like this about Albania. After 79 seconds, the microphone is taken away and he is told that there is no more translation. It doesn't take two minutes, really, that everyone feels bad, it's not the first time Berisha has done this", Spahiu emphasized in the "Frontline" show on Report TV.
