Former Democratic Party MP Myslim Murrizi has made strong accusations against the justice system, the vetting process, and SPAK prosecutors, claiming that a good portion of the appointments were made with the intervention of the majority and are politically controlled by Edi Rama.
Invited to the show "This Week", Murrizi stated that justice reform is not an independent process, but a scenario orchestrated by the government, while he did not spare former American ambassador Yuri Kim.
" Rama glared at Yuri Kim when he told her that the Justice Reform was done by the Socialist Party, these are secretaries. And she was fuming. She was fuming because she was worried about the 100 million euros of Bangladeshi ships ," Murrizi said.
He questioned the entire vetting process, citing as an example Olsi Komici, one of the key figures of the reform, who is now a SP MP in Librazhd. Murrizi stressed that many of those who are supposed to cleanse politics of the corrupt are themselves family-related to people involved in wiretapping or with criminal records.
" They have come out in the wiretaps when they say: let's remove this one who is a mountaineer or a trafficker or because he is right-wing, and let's pass this one whose brother-in-law was convicted in Italy as a trafficker ," he said.
The former MP demanded that public trials be held for public officials, not closed ones, while ironizing the work of SPAK: " There are SPAK prosecutors who have requested extreme measures for some ministers, but ironically, they have not brought any case to the end ."
Murriz's statements once again bring to attention accusations of selectivity and political influence over the judiciary, at a time when SPAK is under pressure to deliver concrete results in the fight against high-level corruption.
