KLSH requests budget increase to 885 million lek for 2026, plans new building

The Supreme State Audit Office (SSA) presented today, to the Parliamentary Committee on Civic Initiatives, Cooperation and Institutional Oversight, the draft budget for 2026, which aims to support the institution's auditing role with sufficient resources.

The representative of the Albanian Supreme Audit Office, Alketa Kalleshi, announced today that the draft budget foresees a total fund of 885 million lek, divided into three main items: salaries and insurance, expenditures for goods and services, and capital expenditures worth 91.6 million lek.

According to Kalleshi, for 2026, the SAI has requested an increase in the number of employees to 253, or 10 more than the current staff.

"Our request for additional staff is based on increasing demands from the Assembly and the need for more audits in areas of high public sensitivity, especially in the context of European integration ," she said.

In the goods and services item, the Albanian Supreme Audit Office has requested a fund of 117.3 million lek, about 44.6 million lek more than a year ago, to cover additional needs related to audits and the organization of an international event in 2026, writes A2 CNN.

Meanwhile, for capital expenditures, the institution has requested 91.6 million lek, an increase of 60 million lek compared to 2025. This amount will be used for investment in the construction of a new building in the former KLSH vehicle park, as well as for technology and infrastructure rehabilitation, with a fund of 31.6 million lek.

In total, compared to the 2025 budget of 694 million lek, the SAI predicts an increase of 13%, bringing the fund for 2026 to 885 million lek.
